1. Treatment Method
If there is no metastasis, surgical treatment such as partial renal resection and radical kidney resection is performed. Surgical methods include open surgery, laparoscopic surgery, and robotic surgery. Other non-surgical method is Radiofrequency ablation (RFA).
If the tumor has metastasized, there is a surgical method to remove both the metastatic site and kidney. Other treatment methods are immunotherapy, target chemotherapy, radiation therapy etc.
2. Prognosis
It has been reported that in localized kidney cancer the 5 year survival rate is 80-90%. However, if there is lymph node metastasis or other organ metastasis the 5 year survival rate reduces to less than 30%, therefore early diagnosis is important.
